FREE MARTIAL ARTS CLASSES IN SCAWTHORPE | Ages 11-17

Caged Steel Communities are bringing free martial arts courses to Scawthorpe, Doncaster. Young people aged 11 to 17 can choose from two free martial arts classes at Scawthorpe Community Centre. The courses give young people a positive place to get active, develop practical skills and meet new people.

No previous martial arts experience is needed. Our experienced instructors will help everyone learn at a suitable pace in a safe and supportive environment.

INTRODUCTION TO MARTIAL ARTS & SELF DEFENCE

A supportive introduction to martial arts for complete beginners and those looking to build their confidence. Young people will learn:

  • practical martial arts and self-defence skills
  • movement, balance and coordination
  • how to stay calm and focused
  • techniques suitable for their age and ability
  • how to train safely with other people

This class provides a positive introduction without expecting anyone to have previous experience.

Who:
Young people aged 11 to 17
When: Wednesdays, 3:30pm to 4:30pm
Start date: Wednesday 7th October 2026
Duration: The course runs into 2027

CHOOSE YOUR CLASS (2 / 2)

KICKBOXING, BOXING & MMA TRAINING

An active session introducing young people to techniques from kickboxing, boxing and mixed martial arts. Sessions may include:

  • pad work
  • striking techniques
  • footwork and movement
  • fitness exercises
  • controlled partner drills
  • techniques adapted to different experience levels

Our instructors will explain each activity clearly and help everyone train safely and at a suitable pace.

Start date: Wednesday 7th October 2026
Duration: The course runs into 2027

ATTEND ONE CLASS OR BOTH

Young people can attend:

  • the Introduction to Martial Arts & Self Defence class
  • the Kickboxing, Boxing & MMA Training class
  • both classes from 3:30pm to 5:30pm

Both classes are free. Choosing both sessions gives young people two hours of structured martial arts training each week.

WHAT TO BRING

Attendees should bring:

  • comfortable sports clothing
  • trainers or suitable footwear
  • a bottle of water

There is no need to buy or bring martial arts equipment. The equipment needed during the sessions will be provided.

Activities are introduced gradually and adapted to each person’s age, ability and confidence.

Young people do not need to be fit or confident before joining. The classes are designed to help them develop practical skills, improve their fitness and meet new people.
